Toyota is preparing to take the Supra into a new era. The upcoming generation, expected in 2027, will be developed entirely in-house — from the chassis to the powertrain — marking a decisive break from past collaborations.
A Clean Break
Since its modern comeback, the Supra has shared its platform and engine with outside partners. The new model will stand on its own, designed and engineered exclusively by Toyota’s performance division. This move aims to give the Supra a distinct personality that reflects the brand’s own design philosophy.
Turbo-Hybrid Power
Under the hood, Toyota is replacing the current inline-six with a newly developed 2.0-liter turbocharged hybrid four-cylinder. While smaller in displacement, it’s expected to produce around 400 horsepower. The hybrid system is designed to deliver instant torque, improved efficiency, and reduced emissions — all without sacrificing the Supra’s signature speed.
Built on a New Foundation
The next Supra will ride on a bespoke rear-wheel-drive sports car platform. With a focus on lighter weight and improved agility, the new architecture is being tailored for sharper handling and a more connected driving feel.
Saying Goodbye to the Current Generation
Before the curtain closes on the current Supra, Toyota is releasing special Final Edition models. These limited-run versions feature unique styling, upgraded performance parts, and the option of a manual transmission. Production numbers will be extremely low, making them instant collectibles
