The system works by combining data from cameras, radar, navigation, and interior monitoring. When driving on highways, for example, if the car determines a safe lane change is possible, the driver can confirm the intention simply by glancing at the side mirror. The vehicle then completes the maneuver, including activating the turn signal.
Inside the cabin, a camera monitors the driver’s attention to ensure they are actively engaged. If the driver looks away from the road or doesn’t confirm a suggested maneuver, the system will not proceed. This helps balance automation with safety and user control.
The feature began rolling out in select models starting in 2024 and is expanding to more vehicles over time. It is part of a larger suite of assistance technologies that includes adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping, designed to support hands-free driving in certain conditions.
